Moving can be a very overwhelming process.  Taking the process on early, with a plan, and a budget that you intend to stay within will help you a great deal along the way.  Relocating your life and belongings is also very stressful.  Lock down the necessary details, plan out far in advance, and make sure you don't drop the ball on your to-do list prior to your move.  This will make your moving experience much less hectic and allow you to focus on other important aspects of relocating. By |March 19th, 2018|Moving FAQs|Comments Off on How to Handle Moving Damages

We all hope that it never happens.  No moving company ever intends to damage one of your items.  In an industry where most companies rely on word-of-mouth referrals from customers, this is not a fun situation to be in.  Unfortunately in the moving industry, moving damages do occur from time-to-time.  The most important thing is how your mover handles those damamges on the rare occasion that it does happen to you.  By choosing a reputable moving company to partner with on your moving day, you'll ensure that even if one of your items does get damaged, the problem will not be left unresolved. Below are some tips on what to expect when it comes to the moving damages process, how to help prevent damaged items, and what to do if your mover goes dark on you after breaking an item. Mover Travel Time is often a critical detail in the planning of a move.  No matter how your moving company charges for travel time, it is something you should be fully aware of before booking your move.  When your mover provides you with an estimate, this should be included no matter how that mover charges for travel time. Travel time is often thought to be the time it takes your mover to go from your first location where they load your items to your next location where the mover delivers your items to.  That is not the case.  Travel time is the time it takes the mover to travel from their warehouse to your first location, the time it takes to travel from your first location to your ending location, and the time it takes your mover to get back to their warehouse at the end of the move.  Essentially, the movers need to get paid for all of the time they spend on your move, and the time traveling to and from your move is included in that.  This is why it is so beneficial to book a local moving company who operates in close proximity to your locations. There are 3 types of mover travel time that are common practice in the Moving Industry.  You may find a mover who uses a different method, but it is most likely that your mover uses one of the below. The main focus is on acclamating your pets to their new home.  There are also some critical details and pieces of information that can easily get lost in the shuffle of the moving process that we'll cover.  Pets are very protective animals that thrive in a familiar habitat.  Keeping that in mind when moving will help your preparation for a smooth transition for your pet to your new home. Before The Move Before moving with pets, there are a few bases that you need to make sure you cover.  The first may be a bit obvious, but making sure that the place you are moving to is pet friendly is critical.  Some landlords or apartment buildings have a strict no-pet policy.  If you're moving into your own house this is less likely to be a factor.  The last thing you want is to move into your new place and then find out that your pet isn't allowed to live there. We suggest bringing your pet by your new place before the move if possible.  Even if it is just around the outside of [...]
